THE BIG BREW HA RETURNS
“THE BIG BREW HA” RETURNS WITH COFFEE, TEA, BEER AND “OLD WORLD, NEW FLAVOR” CUISINE AT THE MINT MUSEUM UPTOWN
CHARLOTTE, NC – Several noted restaurants and caterers will offer “Old World, New Flavor” fare at The Big Brew Ha, complete with all things brewed (coffee, tea and beer) on the top floor of the Mint Museum Uptown on Friday, April 27, 2012, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. This is the second year of The Big Brew Ha, more than 150 patrons turned out last year, raising more than $6,000 to help preserve one of the oldest buildings on Tryon Street.
Admission is $60 per person; all participants will receive a commemorative beer stein. Free parking will be provided in The Green parking deck next to St. Peter’s Church. Tickets and other details are available at www.thebigbrewha.com.
With a comfortable but fashionable European pub feel, The Big Brew Ha menu will include Italian and Tuscan delights from Dean & Deluca Catering, Polish favorites from Harvest Moon Grille, and The Flying Biscuit Café. Coffee will be provided by Counter Culture Coffee.
Between sampling gourmet “pub grub” and corresponding brews, event-goers will be entertained by audience favorites from last year, including the band “Side Effect” and the ever competitive “Brew Pong Tournament” (a refined version of “beer pong” where the winning team gets a secret grand prize worth $200). New games (including a more “Classic Cornhole”) have been added to take advantage of the Mint Museum’s rooftop terrace. The Brew Ha “Balloon Pop” is back, guaranteeing a surprise (anything from restaurant gift cards to concert tickets) for $20 a pop.
Promotional support is provided by Nova Office Strategies, Charlotte Magazine and YELP.
All festivities will feature the backdrop of the Charlotte skyline as seen at the 5th Floor of the new Mint Museum Uptown, located across from St. Peter’s Catholic Church. St. Peter’s recently underwent an extensive preservation project, to restore the exterior of the church, the cornerstone of which was laid in 1893. The Big Brew Ha will ensure the church will stay in tiptop condition for many years to come.

About St. Peter’s Catholic Church
St. Peter’s Catholic Church is one of the oldest buildings on Tryon Street, for which the original cornerstone was laid in 1851. According to a former pastor, “For 90 years it was the only Catholic church in the city. It’s easy to interpret this church’s role in the city in light of the name Jesus gave Peter…Rock.” The mission of St. Peter’s is to grow in faith through worship, prayer, outreach, education and action. St. Peter’s has been staffed by the Jesuits since 1986. Learn more at www.stpeterscatholic.org.
